INTERNAL KUNG-FU WEAPONRY
A brief description including age suitability of our Adult and Junior Kung-Fu Weaponry
SELF-DEFENCE COURSES:
Weaponry [9 Yrs+] > Wu Chi Kung Fu Weapons (Short & Long, Wooden & Blade, Loose & Solid Weapons)
Our Internal Kung-Fu Weapons Program offers a variety of weapons ranging from Short to Long, Wooden & Blade, Loose & Solid and either single or double weapons together.
is based on the five fundamental Weapons.
1. The Staff from a chopstick to a three body length pole and all size and length staff in between,
2. the Broadsword (Knife - Single Edged) single and double sword,
3. The Straight Sword (Sword - Double Edged) single and double sword,
4. the Lance (Spear) and
5. the loose weapons such as a weapons that don't hold rigidly like a rope or have segments of rigid material that are held together by a chain, rope etc. such as the 3 Sectional Staff or 2 Sectional Staff (Nunchaku) and Steel Whip or Rope.
Adults Internal Kung-fu [16 Yrs+] > Wu Chi Chuan (Limitless or Formless Fist) > Limitless fist means it has no fixed techniques, yet all techniques can blend and integrate as one to form a practical and successful application. This system combines the Three Self-defensive Combative Themes as one and has No Limits (Limitless Fist) to varying combinations.
A weapon is considered to be an extension of the body, each of the 5 weapon's relates specifically to one of the 5 Elements and 5 Animal Characters, through the elements and animals characteristic traits, an individual also relates to these characteristic traits and would best suit a particular animal style and weapon, however, our system encourages all 5 characteristics including the empty hand and weaponry system.
The Staff is the wise man's weapon, the Spear or Lance is the King of weapons and handled with sophistication, it is the Nobleman's or Emperors guards weapon, the Broadsword (Knife) is the Layman's or Farmers weapon, the Straight Sword is also a revered weapon which is handled gently and wielded in a subtle manner, it is the Gentleman's weapon and lastly, the Loose weapons fall under the use of very difficult weapons rope, whip chain etc. including improvised weapons of any calibre as well as encompassing the ability to use the Empty Hand to disarm or defend themselves against any Weapon, so therefore, it is the Monkey or Witty and Crafty person's weapon and swift and dexterous empty hand against a weapon that relates to the loose weapons. A Monkey's characteristic traits are deceptive and hidden or concealed that can act very quickly and catch you of guard applying the element of surprise.
Let's have a look at an example of the 5 Element theory that relates to the 5 animal traits and their characteristics, unique to our Internal system; The element Earth, in fact Earth is the mother elelment and the centre of all the element's and is referred to having concealed energy and therefore, being that a Monkey's traits and characteristic's also relates to concealed energy, we categorially pair and correspond the Earth element with the animal Monkey, so then when analysing the Monkey's unique Character from the rest of the 5 Animal's, being Bird, Deer, Bear and Tiger, we can deduce that Monkeys are known to be Deceptive, Elusive, Witty, Crafty and Stealthy. Of these 5 characteristics, although they have a similarity in meaning and all relate to the Monkey, they also have a different quality around the meaning which can now give rise to corresponding the Monkey with the rest of the 5 Elements energies and their respective paired animals traits and characteristics, the remaining elements are Fire, Wood, Water and Metal. The strongest of the 5 characteristics associated to the Earth elements energy and Monkeys characteristic is being Deceptive, Monkeys are deceptive in their nature and therefore, this association and correspondence presents itself as the Monkey of Monkey or Earth of Monkey. Now, if we have Earth of Monkey and there are five elements associated with 5 animal's, a mathematical analytic approach would deduce that there is also Fire or Bird of Monkey, a Wood or Deer of Monkey, a Water or Bear of Monkey and a Metal or Tiger of Monkey. All the animals carry all the 5 element energies within their characteristics and traits, how much would depend on their parent element and animal character and therefore, all the 5 animals share some commonality. So, if you are following this theory, there will also be a Bird of Monkey or the opposite, a Monkey of Bird, in this case the bird being the parent animal, but in this example, as we are researching and exploring the potential of the Earth element related to the Monkey as the main element and animal, when we look at the rest of the 5 characteristics we confirmed before, the Elusive Characteristic corresponds with the Bird of Monkey, and the being Witty corresponds to the Deer of Monkey, being Crafty corresponds to the Bear of Monkey, and lastly, being Stealthy corresponds to the Tiger of Monkey. Now, this is only one part, there are 4 more parts to this theory and there are also more correlations that we correspond to the 5 Elements and 5 Animals particularly in relation to combative principles and strategies.
Our Weapons curriculum is based on the 5 Element Theory related to the 5 Animal Strategy, this is an interesting topic for anyone wanting to learn the "Art of Kung Fu", it also forms the foundation of our internal Kung-Fu system. Also, there are contrast short and long weapons as well as improvised weapons which we categorise in relation to our weapons curriculum accordingly.
All the weapons assist one to achieve great martial skills and require attention to detail, through arduous practice, one will develop more strength and stamina while increasing mind and body awareness, coordination, connection and much more.
Although each weapon has different characteristic's as do the empty hand 5 fist methods in our Kung-Fu system, the functional principles remain the same allowing a complete integration of all hand and weapons training and applications, unifying all the different elements and characteristics into one.
