DEVELOPMENT

1. SELF-DEFENCE

Through the practice and development of the martial components of Wu Chi Kung Fu — including combative themes and movements, stepping, guards, drills, combinations, combined patterns and applications — students progressively develop the Wu Chi Kung Fu combative body and mind.

This creates the foundation for adaptable and effective self-defence skills, guided by Wu Chi — limitless potentialYin-Yang as the basis of change, Wu Hsing through the Five Animal system and the Five Internal Power EnginesExtension, Flexion, Compression, Rotation and Undulation — and Pa Kua through directional change, angular and circular stepping, and strategic adaptability. Together, these develop the ability to move in the path of least resistance.

2. HEALTH

Through Wu Chi Tai Chi for Health and its Four Pillars of Training — Nei Gong, Qi Gong, Tai Chi Form and Sensing Hands — students develop greater harmony through stillness and movement, central equilibrium, internal wellbeing and balanced interaction with themselves and others.

The Health pathway is founded predominantly upon Wu Chi and Yin-Yang, while Wu Hsing and Pa Kua progressively contribute further relationships of movement, change, direction and integration.

3. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Personal development is cultivated through Wu Chi martial morality, character development, ethical conduct, natural philosophy and the balance of talent and virtue.

For those progressing toward leadership or instruction, this also includes responsibility, communication and becoming a positive example to students, peers, family and the wider community.

A broader expression of personal development is found through the Five Excellencies, which integrate martial training with practical life development:

  2. Medicine — Traditional Chinese Medicine
Developing knowledge in one or more areas such as acupuncture, acupressure, massage, Chinese herbal medicine or traditional bone-setting methods.
  3. Chinese Boxing / Internal Martial Arts
Developing practical skill and understanding through arts such as Wu Chi Chuan, Tai Chi, Pa Kua and related internal martial disciplines.
  4. Academic Development
Developing foundational through advanced academic qualities such as mathematics, language, comprehension, communication and general learning ability.
  5. Practical Life Skills & Hobbies
Developing a broad range of useful and creative interests — traditionally aiming toward ten practical or recreational skills such as sewing, gardening, music, money management and other areas of personal competence.
