Combative Sports Programs
AIMA delivers 3 Combative Sports Programs, Boxing, Kickboxing & Grappling. Each program is delivered based on their own sport-specific rules either for competition or simply for one's own purposes and in particular specialising to its specific combative themes. Boxing specialises in punching, swift footwork, evasive defensive manoeuvres. Kickboxing specialises in dynamic kicking, integrating hand and foot combinations including knees and elbows as well as additional hand techniques like back-fists and hammer-fists. The general combative theme both boxing and kickboxing have in common is Striking, regardless whether you kick, punch or hit, they are all regarded as Striking. There are two more general combative themes, they are seizing/controlling and throws/takedowns. Both these two general combative themes relate to the specific moves belonging to Grappling. Grappling specialises in very tight close quarter combat, neutralising and receiving an opponent's attack. While taking an opponent to the ground is a grappler's preferred strategy, Grabs, Locks, Holds, Chokes and Throws can all be executed standing as well as kneeling or laying down.
Finally, if you wish to cross train all of the three general combative themes, Striking, Seizing/ Controlling and Throwing/Takedowns, you may want to take up all of the three combative sport programs and cross-train all the combative themes making you an overall well rounded mixed martial artist, or you may simply want to specialise in one only.
By doing all your training for Boxing, Kickboxing and Grappling based on our unique system and principles, the unique training methods and our systems particular fundamentals will establish strong foundations to be able to cross-train the different combative themes more effective and efficiently than trying to cross-train with other systems or other school methods, regardless whether you are a beginner or have experience in other systems. Establishing a strong foundation with our system will not only improve your techniques and combative strategy but will make you adaptable to deal with all other systems and more importantly unpredictable to others.
Ultimately, only a Complete System with proper Integrative methods can accommodate all your combative skills to your highest potential.
The three Combative Sports programs focus on improving the particular theme while developing the skills to enter competitions. Student's could participate in a diverse range of competitions. All three Combative Sports programs are suitable for both Adults and Children, please see our timetable for when classes are scheduled.
The Junior classes 7 - 14 yrs are separated to suit specific outcomes suitable for the Juniors.
Adult and Junior Members also have the flexibility to participate in any Combative Sports Competition on an Amateur or Professional level or simply train for themselves without competing. Members who are interested in competing should let AIMA admin know upon signing up so as we can direct and prepare the member for their specific competition they would like to enter into and give out some further information on competition training with AIMA.

A word from our Principal/ Head Coach
Why should I train all the three main offensive themes with AIMA?
What is the difference in training with AIMA combative sports programs rather than with other schools and systems similar that offer specific offensive themes?
Is Cross Training with other systems beneficial and how does it compare with training all the offensive themes under the one system delivered only by AIMA?
Here at AIMA you can experience learning all the three main Offensive Themes based on the same concepts and principles on a generic level while establishing one's own style. We maintain that our unique training methods are based on the same foundations and principles of which each of the three main Offensive Themes, as well as all our other combative themes included in each of our combative sports programs, will rest upon. Our system has no limitations and is completely adaptable under the correct circumstances which can take you to whatever level or destination you desire, so set your goals high and aspire to Greatness and allow our instructors at AIMA to guide you.
Someone once asked me if cross training with different schools and styles was beneficial and added to the practitioner's ability and skills, what do you think I said?
Come in and tell me in person what you think and I will let you know what I said. Look forward to meeting you and seeing you at one of our classes soon.
